As part of the First Nation Land Management Initiative (FNLMI), a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) has commenced of ‘Namgis First Nation’s Reserve lands. The Phase I ESA will attempt to identify any potential and/or known areas of contaminated soils, water and air found on ‘Namgis First Nation’s Reserve lands which may pose a human health or ecological risk to the ‘Namgis residents or their ecological resources. A important componet of the Phase I ESA is gathering ‘Namgis membership, elders, administration and Chief and Council’s input on environmental issues. A community dinner and meeting will be held to discuss the FNLMI Environmental Site Assessment process, the Phase I ESA investigation and any environmental concerns community members would like to discuss.
