Welcome to the 'Namgis Treaty Negotiations Website

The purpose of this web site is to equip members of the ’Namgis First Nation to make well-informed, knowledgeable decisions about the treaty negotiations currently underway with the governments of Canada and British Columbia.

The ’Namgis are currently in the fourth stage of a six stage negotiating process. The negotiating team expects to have an Agreement in Principle (AIP) ready for review by community members in 2008.

This Web site provides members with details about the Agreement in Principle, about the treaty process, and about the reasons for negotiating modern-day treaties. This site was created by the ’Namgis treaty team as part of a larger effort to keep members informed and up to date.

This communications effort also includes regular Community Consultation meetings, a newsletter, pamphlets and an “open door” policy for ’Namgis members who wish to sit as observers during negotiating meetings with government.
