Marine Oil Spill Training

The Namgis First Nation is looking to increase the number of trained oil spill responders. We are gathering names of members interested in taking the training.The training is conducted twice a year in Port McNeil or Port Hardy. A training wage and living out allowance will be paid.

The ideal candidate for response training, is physically fit, has boat experience including certifications such as Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP) and Med A3.

These candidates must also demonstrate a willingness to work hard and cooperate with supervisors.  The actual clean-up activities can be somewhat unpleasant and involve long hours in challenging conditions, handling toxic spilt substances.
