We are accepting applications for two (2) full-time positions of Elementary School Teacher at T’lisalagi’lakw School. We are a First Nations operated Group Two Independent school with Grades K-7 full days. Along with a relatively low teacher to student ratio, ‘Namgis First Nation offers a competitive salary, pension, health and dental plans and a generous leave policy.  The staff contingent includes the Principal, Vice-Principal, Teachers, Learning Assistants, Cultural Workers and support staff.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide inquiry based, problem solving based and project based learning opportunities
  • Utilize academic programs: ReadWell; Reading Mastery; WriteTraits (6+1); and, Saxon Math
  • Prepare and deliver long term, monthly and daily lesson plan activities
  • Develop and oversee individual learning plans for each student as required
  • Ensure that students’ overall needs for achieving success are met
  • Consult with Learning Assistants and Cultural Workers regularly and as required
  • Enforce the School Discipline Policy
  • Participate as a member of the School Supervisory and Extra-Curricular Teams
  • Provide written student evaluation reports and attend parent-teacher conferences
  • Ensure that accurate and complete student records are maintained
  • Substitute teaching in other classrooms as may be required from time to time
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents
  • Attend staff meetings as required
  • Participate in extra-curricular activities as required

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Education
  • Member in good standing with the BC College of Teachers
  • 2 years’ teaching in a First Nations environment
