Job Title: Project Manager – Ne’nagwa’nakwala (formally the St Michaels Residential School Project)
Date: May 30, 2022
Reporting: Reports to the Health Director
Term: Two Year Term Position, with possibility of extension
Position Summary: The Project Manager will oversee project activities and the project team, including the coordination of community supports, engagement, research, land scanning, and managing contracts with service providers.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work in conjunction and under the direction of the ‘Namgis Director of Health
- Provides supervision of the project assistant and contractors
- Collaborate with the Health Director to develop proposals and to implement project objectives, including the maintenance of budgets and ensure the proper accounting and reporting needs are met.
- Develop and implements a project engagement strategy and project workplan
- Ensure compliance with all ‘Namgis First Nation policy and procedures
Education, Training & Experience
- University degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Minimum 2 years experience with team supervision and project management
- Project development experience, including proposal writing, project administration, and work plan implementation
- Proficiency with MS office software and other project management tools
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of the Kwakwa̱ka̱’wakw culture and traditions
- Knowledge and ability to work comfortably of BC First Nations values, culture and history
- Ability to work comfortably in a cross-cultural environment
- Knowledge of Indian Residential Schools and their impact on First Nations
- Ability to travel to remote First Nations communities by boat and/or plane
- Excellent interpersonal skills, able to develop rapport with membership and personnel at all levels
- Proven abilities to maintain confidentiality of information and materials; and able to always display sound judgement and exercise discretion
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate sound work ethics and commitment to achieving objectives
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work in a complex work environment that will include evening and weekends, including travel, from time to time
- Valid BC Drivers Licence
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
