CHIEF AND COUNCIL
The Council consists of nine Councilors and the Chief who serve two-year terms. Each year five seats on Council come up for re-election. This ensures that there are always some Councilors with at least a year's experience left on Council after each election.
Council meetings constitute only a part of each member's duties. To divide up the work load there are six committees and boards responsible for specific operations, each of which has at least one Councilor on it. The Chief is automatically a member of every committee and board, which ensures that he has no problem filling in his spare time. |
