Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) has updated the application procedure and the form to obtain a “Letter of Ancestry” (or Family History Search).
Under the new regulation, ‘Namgis Membership Administrator is no longer responsible for issuing the Letter of Ancestry. Members who need the document issued in their name should download and fill the attached form and contact Indigenous Services Canada directly. The attached form can be submitted to genea@sac-isc.gc.ca by email or by regular mail at the following address:

If a third party wants to confirm whether an individual has status, they will need to approach the individual directly or contact ISC through the Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) Office at aadnc.atipreguest-aiprpdemande.aandc@canada.ca
