POSITION TITLE: Homemaker
REPORTS TO: Social Development Worker
POSITION SUMMARY:
To provide general household duties to people who are physically or mentally unable to do so.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Perform housekeeping duties including laundry, ironing, washing windows (within arm's reach), and floors, stripping the client's bed cloting, vacuuming and dusting and watering indoor plants
· Provides services on time and according to scheduled times
· Notifies immediate Supervisor of any incident that service was not/or cannot provide
· Prepares meals
· Shops for groceries for client
· Runs errands for clients in hospital with permission granted by Social Development Worker
· Reports any observed change in client's physical or mental status immediately to the Home Care Nurse
· Submits all written information as required (i.e. critical incident report)
· Submits service activities every two weeks on the service data form
· Submits completed time sheets according to deadlines
· Maintains confidentiality
· Follows through on delegated homemaking tasks
· Knowledge of emergency contacts in the event of a sudden and serious medical crisis or change in the client's state of well-being
· At the request of the Social Development Worker, may perform major cleaning duties such as shampooing rugs, removing garbage, washing walls and cleaning the oven
· Participates in team meetings and contributes as a team member
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
· Applicants must have 1 years experience working/volunteering with the Elderly or disabled
· Demonstrated good oral and written communication skills
· Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the needs of Elderly
· Demonstrated good reliability
· Minimum of one year experience working/volunteering with Elders
· Completion Grade 12
· Current First Aid
· Valid Food Safe
· Occasional evening or weekend work may be required
